Overdose of Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) in details

The toxicity of Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) overdose is dependent upon the amount of drug ingested and the time elapsed since ingestion, though individual response may vary, which makes it necessary to evaluate each case individually. Although uncommon, serious toxicity and death have been reported in the medical literature with Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) overdosage. The most frequently reported symptoms of Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) overdose include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, lethargy and drowsiness. Other central nervous system symptoms include headache, tinnitus, CNS depression and seizures. Metabolic acidosis, coma, acute renal failure and apnea (primarily in very young children) may rarely occur. Cardiovascular toxicity, including hypotension, bradycardia, tachycardia and atrial fibrillation, also have been reported.

The treatment of acute Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) overdose is primarily supportive. Management of hypotension, acidosis and gastrointestinal bleeding may be necessary. In cases of acute overdose, the stomach should be emptied through ipecac-induced emesis or lavage. Emesis is most effective if initiated within 30 minutes of ingestion.

Orally administered activated charcoal may help in reducing the absorption and reabsorption of Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte).

In children, the estimated amount of Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) ingested per body weight may be helpful to predict the potential for development of toxicity although each case must be evaluated. Ingestion of less than 100 mg/kg is unlikely to produce toxicity. Children ingesting 100 to 200 mg/kg may be managed with induced emesis and a minimal observation time of four hours. Children ingesting 200 to 400 mg/kg of Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) should have immediate gastric emptying and at least four hours observation in a health care facility. Children ingesting greater than 400 mg/kg require immediate medical referral, careful observation and appropriate supportive therapy. Ipecac-induced emesis is not recommended in overdoses greater than 400 mg/kg because of the risk for convulsions and the potential for aspiration of gastric contents.

In adult patients the history of the dose reportedly ingested does not appear to be predictive of toxicity. The need for referral and follow-up must be judged by the circumstances at the time of the overdose ingestion. Symptomatic adults should be carefully evaluated, observed and supported.

What should I avoid while taking Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte)?

Avoid drinking alcohol. It may increase your risk of stomach bleeding.

Avoid taking aspirin while you are taking Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte).

Avoid taking Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) if you are taking aspirin to prevent stroke or heart attack. Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) can make aspirin less effective in protecting your heart and blood vessels. If you must use both medications, take the Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) at least 8 hours before or 30 minutes after you take the aspirin (non-enteric coated form).

Ask a doctor or pharmacist before using any cold, allergy, or pain medicine. Many medicines available over the counter contain aspirin or other medicines similar to Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte). Taking certain products together can cause you to get too much of this type of medication. Check the label to see if a medicine contains aspirin, Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte), ketoprofen, or naproxen.

Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) warnings

Inform your physician if you use alcohol chronically. Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) should not be taken with aspirin products. This medication should be taken with food, milk or antacids if stomach upset occurs. Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) may cause dizziness and drowsiness; use caution while driving or operating hazardous machinery. Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) may cause increased sensitivity to sunlight. Use sunscreens and wear protective clothing until degree of sensitivity is determined. Notify your physician if you develop stomach pain, bloody vomit, bloody or black tarry stools, cloudy urine, trouble breathing, rash or hives.

5.1 General

There are no long-term evaluations of the infants treated with Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) at durations greater than the 36 weeks post-conceptual age observation period. Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte)’s effects on neurodevelopmental outcome and growth as well as disease processes associated with prematurity (such as retinopathy of prematurity and chronic lung disease) have not been assessed.

5.2 Infection

Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) Lysine may alter the usual signs of infection. The physician must be continually on the alert and should use the drug with extra care in the presence of controlled infection and in infants at risk of infection.

5.3 Platelet Aggregation

Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) Lysine, like other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, can inhibit platelet aggregation. Preterm infants should be observed for signs of bleeding. Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) has been shown to prolong bleeding time (but within the normal range) in normal adult subjects. This effect may be exaggerated in patients with underlying hemostatic defects.

5.4 Bilirubin Displacement

Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) has been shown to displace bilirubin from albumin binding-sites; therefore, it should be used with caution in patients with elevated total bilirubin.

5.5 Administration

Ibuprofen (Aseptobron Antigripal Forte) Lysine should be administered carefully to avoid extravascular injection or leakage, as solution may be irritating to tissue.
