Bacterix Uses |

As supplement to rehydration, treatment of acute diarrhea presumed to be of bacterial origin in the absence of suspected invasive phenomena (impaired general condition, fever, signs of toxicity or infection). The level of rehydration by means of an oral or IV rehydration soln must be adapted according to the severity of the diarrhea, & patient age/characteristics (concomitant disease). The official recommendations concerning the appropriate use of antibacterial agents should be taken into consideration.
Cap Adult 4 cap (800 mg)/day in to 2-4 intakes. Childn ≥6 yr 3-4 cap (600-800 mg)/day in 2-4 intakes. Susp Childn >2 yr 660 mg/day in 3 intakes. All treatment duration must not exceed 7 days.
Potentiates effects of other CNS depressants (alcohol, barbiturates) and some anxiolytics.
Potentially Fatal: Theoretical hypertensive crisis with MAOIs.
Anemia, blood disorders, blurred vision, constipation, cramping, diarrhea, dizziness, dizziness upon standing, fever, headache, hearing loss, high blood sugar, hives, itching, loss of appetite, low potassium (leading to symptoms like dry mouth, excessive thirst, weak or irregular heartbeat, muscle pain or cramps), muscle spasms, nausea, rash, reddish or purplish spots on the skin, restlessness, ringing in the ears, sensitivity to light, skin eruptions, skin inflammation and flaking, stomach or mouth irritation, tingling or pins and needles, vertigo, vision changes, vomiting, weakness, yellow eyes and skin
Hypersensitivity to nitrofuran derivatives. Premature & infants <2 yr. Fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency.
