Benzylpenicillin G warnings
Appearance of any manifestation of allergy requires discontinuation of treatment. Severe and sometimes fatal reactions of hypersensitivity ( anaphylaxis ) have been observed in exceptional cases in patients treated with Penicillin.
They are treated with success by epinephrin, steroids, and antihistaminics.
Previous questioning is therefore required before administration.
History of typical allergy to those products constitutes a strict contraindication.
ALSAPEN must be administered in deep intramuscular injections.
The physician must always investigate and take into consideration eventual allergy to penicillin or cephalosporin before administration of treatment..
ALSAPEN crosses the placental barrier and goes into maternal milk, so it is not administered to the pregnant or using women.
