What are the possible side effects of Cardiprin?
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using Cardiprin and call your doctor at once if you have:

ringing in your ears, confusion, hallucinations, rapid breathing, seizure (convulsions);

severe nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain;
-
bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds;
-
fever lasting longer than 3 days; or
-
swelling, or pain lasting longer than 10 days.
Common side effects may include:

upset stomach, heartburn;

drowsiness; or
-
mild headache.

Side effects requiring immediate medical attention
Along with its needed effects, Cardiprin (the active ingredient contained in Cardiprin) may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.
Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking Cardiprin:

- Abdominal or stomach pain, cramping, or burning
- black, tarry stools
- bloody or cloudy urine
- change in consciousness
- chest pain or discomfort
- confusion
- constipation
- convulsions, severe or continuing
- dark urine
- decreased frequency or amount of urine

- drowsiness
- fainting
- fast breathing
- feeling that something terrible will happen
- fever
- general tiredness and weakness
- greatly decreased frequency of urination or amount of urine
- headache
- heartburn
- increased thirst
- indigestion
- irregular heartbeat
- light-colored stools
- loss of appetite
- loss of consciousness
- lower back or side pain
- muscle cramping and weakness
- muscle tremors
- nausea or vomiting
- nervousness
- numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
- panic
- rapid, deep breathing
- restlessness

- skin rash

- swelling of the face, fingers, or lower legs
- unusual bleeding or bruising
- unusual tiredness or weakness
- upper right abdominal or stomach

Side effects not requiring immediate medical attention
Some side effects of Cardiprin may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects.
Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

- dry mouth
- hyperventilation
- irritability
- shaking
- stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
- trouble sleeping
- unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness
Managing side effects (general information)
What is the most important information I should know about Cardiprin?
- Do not take Cardiprin chewable tablets for more than 10 days for pain or for more than 3 days for fever unless directed to do so by your health care provider.
- Cardiprin chewable tablets has Cardiprin in it. Before you start any new medicine, check the label to see if it has Cardiprin in it too. If it does or if you are not sure, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
- Talk to your doctor before you take Cardiprin chewable tablets or other pain relievers/fever reducers if you drink more than 3 drinks with alcohol per day. Cardiprin chewable tablets may cause stomach bleeding. Your risk may be greater if you drink alcohol while you are using Cardiprin chewable tablets.
- Serious stomach ulcers or bleeding can occur with the use of Cardiprin chewable tablets. Taking it in high doses or for a long time, smoking, or drinking alcohol increases the risk of these side effects. Taking Cardiprin chewable tablets with food will NOT reduce the risk of these effects. Contact your doctor or emergency room at once if you develop severe stomach or back pain; black, tarry stools; vomit that looks like blood or coffee grounds; or unusual weight gain or swelling.
- Cardiprin chewable tablets may reduce the number of clot-forming cells (platelets) in your blood. Avoid activities that may cause bruising or injury. Tell your doctor if you have unusual bruising or bleeding. Tell your doctor if you have dark, tarry, or bloody stools.
- Cardiprin has been linked to a serious illness called Reye syndrome. Do not give Cardiprin chewable tablets to a child or teenager who has the flu, chickenpox, or a viral infection. Contact your doctor with any questions or concerns.
- Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Cardiprin chewable tablets before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.
- If Cardiprin chewable tablets has a strong vinegar-like smell upon opening, do not use. It means the medicine is breaking down. Throw the bottle away safely and out of the reach of children; contact your pharmacist and replace.
- Use Cardiprin chewable tablets with caution in the ELDERLY; they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially those with a blood coagulation disorder.
- Cardiprin chewable tablets should not be used in CHILDREN younger than 12 years old; safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Cardiprin chewable tablets while you are pregnant. Cardiprin chewable tablets is not recommended during the last 3 months (third trimester) of pregnancy because it may cause harm to the fetus. Cardiprin chewable tablets is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use Cardiprin chewable tablets, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.
Cardiprin contraindications
There are many brands and forms of Cardiprin available and not all brands are listed on this leaflet.
Cardiprin should not be given to a child or teenager who has a fever, especially if the child also has flu symptoms or chicken pox. Cardiprin can cause a serious and sometimes fatal condition called Reye's syndrome in children.
Stop using this medication and call your doctor at once if you have any symptoms of bleeding in your stomach or intestines. Symptoms include black, bloody, or tarry stools, and coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds.
Avoid drinking alcohol while you are taking Cardiprin. Alcohol may increase your risk of stomach bleeding.
Cardiprin is sometimes used to treat or prevent heart attacks, strokes, and chest pain (angina). Cardiprin should be used for cardiovascular conditions only under the supervision of a doctor.
