Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel) (for the skin) is used to treat severe acne in adults and children who are at least 12 years old.

Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel) 2%, is indicated in the treatment of bacterial vaginosis (formerly referred to as Haemophilus vaginitis, Gardnerella vaginitis, nonspecific vaginitis, Corynebacterium vaginitis, or anaerobic vaginosis). Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel) 2%, can be used to treat non-pregnant women and pregnant women during the second and third trimester.
NOTE: For purposes of this indication, a clinical diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis is usually defined by the presence of a homogeneous vaginal discharge that (a) has a pH of greater than 4.5, (b) emits a “fishy” amine odor when mixed with a 10% KOH solution, and (c) contains clue cells on microscopic examination. Gram's stain results consistent with a diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis include (a) markedly reduced or absent Lactobacillus morphology, (b) predominance of Gardnerella morphotype, and (c) absent or few white blood cells.
Other pathogens commonly associated with vulvovaginitis, eg, Trichomonas vaginalis, Chlamydia trachomatis, N. gonorrhoeae, Candida albicans, and Herpes simplex virus should be ruled out.
How should I use Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel)?
Use Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel) as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel) is for vaginal use only.
Wash your hands before and after using Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel). To use, remove the cap from the tube. Screw the plastic applicator on the threaded end of the tube. Rolling the tube from the bottom, squeeze gently and force the medicine into the applicator. The applicator is filled when the plunger reaches its predetermined stopping point.
Unscrew the applicator from the tube and replace the cap. While lying on your back, firmly grasp the applicator barrel and insert into the vagina as far as it will possibly go without causing discomfort. Slowly push the plunger until it stops. Carefully remove the applicator from the vagina and throw the applicator away.
Use Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel) at bedtime. This will help keep the medicine in the vagina and reduce leaking.
Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel) works best if it is used at the same time each day.
To clear up your infection completely, use Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel) for the full course of treatment. Keep using it even if you feel better in a few days.
If you miss a dose of Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel) and you are using it regularly, use it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. Do not use 2 doses at once. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Topical Solution pledget for the application of Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel) twice daily to affected area. More than one pledget may be used. Each pledget should be used only once and then be discarded.
Lotion: Shake well immediately before using.
Pledget: Remove pledget from foil just before use. Do not use if the seal is broken. Discard after single use.
Keep all liquid dosage forms in containers tightly closed.

Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel) Lotion has been shown to have neuromuscular blocking properties that may enhance the action of other neuromuscular blocking agents. Therefore, it should be used with caution in patients receiving such agents. Antagonism has been demonstrated between clindamycin and erythromycin in vitro. Because of possible clinical significance, these two drugs should not be administered concurrently.
In addition to its needed effects, some unwanted effects may be caused by Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel) (the active ingredient contained in Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel)). In the event that any of these side effects do occur, they may require medical attention.
Severity: Moderate
If any of the following side effects occur while taking Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel), check with your doctor or nurse as soon as possible:
More common:
Itching of the vagina or genital area
pain during sexual intercourse
thick, white vaginal discharge with no odor or with mild odor
Less common:
Diarrhea
dizziness
headache
nausea or vomiting
stomach pain or cramps
Rare
Burning, itching, rash, redness, swelling or other signs of skin problems not present before use of this medicine
Side Effects: Post Treatment
After you stop taking this drug, it is possible that you may still experience side effects that need medical attention. If you notice any of the following side effects check with your doctor immediately:
Itching of the vagina or genital area
pain during sexual intercourse
thick, white vaginal discharge with no odor or with mild odor
Antibiotic medicines can cause diarrhea, which may be a sign of a new infection. If you have diarrhea that is watery or bloody, stop taking Clindamycin Topical (Clinka-N Gel) and call your doctor. Do not use anti-diarrhea medicine unless your doctor tells you to.
Avoid getting this medication in your eyes. If it does get into your eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.
It may take up several weeks before your symptoms improve. Keep using the medication as directed and tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse.
Although the risk of serious side effects is low when clindamycin is applied to the skin, side effects can occur if the medication is absorbed into your bloodstream.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor if you have an intestinal disorder such as ulcerative colitis, if you have ever had eczema, or if you have ever had severe diarrhea caused by antibiotic medicine.

An important compound functioning as a component of the coenzyme NAD. Its primary significance is in the prevention and/or cure of blacktongue and pellagra. Most animals cannot manufacture this compound in amounts sufficient to prevent nutritional deficiency and it therefore must be supplemented through dietary intake. [PubChem]
Nicotinamide (Clinka-N Gel) dosage
Oral
Treatment and prophylaxis of nicotinic acid deficiency
Adult: Up to 500 mg daily in divided doses. May also be given via IM or by slow IV inj.
Topical/Cutaneous
Mild to moderate inflammatory acne
Adult: As a 4% gel: Apply bid, reduce to once daily or on alternate days if irritation occurs.
Nicotinamide (Clinka-N Gel) interactions
Nicotinamide (Clinka-N Gel): The clearance of primidone and carbamazepine may be reduced with the concomitant use of Nicotinamide (Clinka-N Gel).
Zinc Oxide: The absorption of quinolones or tetracycline may be decreased with the concomitant use of zinc.
Cupric Oxide: Concomitant use of penicillamine and copper can cause decreased absorption of both substances.
Nicotinamide (Clinka-N Gel) side effects
Allergic sensitization has been reported rarely following oral and parenteral administration of Folic Acid.
At recommended doses, Nicotinamide (Clinka-N Gel) is expected to be well tolerated. Gastrointestinal distress such as nausea or vomiting have been associated with the administration of Nicotinamide (Clinka-N Gel) or zinc at doses greater than the recommended dose of Nicotinamide (Clinka-N Gel)
Nicotinamide (Clinka-N Gel): Dizziness, headache, hyperglycemia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, elevations in liver function tests, hepatotoxicity, blurred vision, flushing, rash.
Nicotinamide (Clinka-N Gel) contraindications
contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of its components.
