Overdose of Fermil in details
Nausea, vomiting, vasomotor flushes, blurred vision, spots or flashes, scotomata, ovarian enlargement with pelvic or abdominal pain. GI decontamination in addition to supportive measures.
Fermil warnings
f flutamide is used for a lengthy period of time, make sure that contraception is adequate in connection with a possible effect of flutamide on sperm. This only applies in patients who have not undergone a surgical castration as part of the treatment of prostate cancer.
Special Patient Groups: Patients suffering from reduced liver and/or kidney function may likely experience problems when using flutamide. If the patient is suffering from cardiovascular diseases, the risk exists of retaining fluid during flutamide treatment. Consult the doctor if the patient’s liver or kidney function is deteriorating or if the patient’s cardiovascular problems increase when using flutamide.
Effects on the Ability to Drive or Operate Machinery: No data are available on the effect of flutamide on the ability to drive or operate machines. An effect, however, is not expected.
Use in pregnancy & lactation: Not applicable since flutamide is only used in men.
Use in children: Flutamide tablets are not intended for children. Pregnancy category D
Fermil precautions
Fermil should be used cautiously in patients with known hypersensitivity to pituitary gonadotropin eg, patients with polycystic ovary syndrome.
Patient with ovarian cyst should not use Fermil, since it may cause enlargement of the ovaries.
Patients should always be monitored for signs of excessive ovarian stimulation (eg, pelvic pain) during Fermil therapy.
If ovulary enlargement or cyst formation has occurred, therapy should be discontinued until the size of the ovary returns to normal, and the dose or duration of the continuing therapy should be reduced.
If any visual disturbances have occurred during Fermil treatment, it should be discontinued and complete ophthalmologic evaluation should be performed.
Effects on the Ability to Drive or Operate Machinery: Caution should be taken if the job of the patients need a high degree of alertness or high level of mental and physical conditions.
