Pregnancy of G Gab in details
G Gab crosses the placenta (Ohman 2011). Studies which evaluated neonatal outcomes following G Gab exposure during pregnancy are limited (Mostacci 2017; Patorno 2017; Veiby 2014; Winterfeld 2016). G Gab has been evaluated as an adjuvant pain medication following cesarean section and pregnancy termination (El Kenany 2016; Lavand'homme 2010).
Data collection to monitor pregnancy and infant outcomes following exposure to G Gab is ongoing. Patients exposed to G Gab during pregnancy are encouraged to enroll themselves into the North American Antiepileptic Drug (NAAED) Pregnancy Registry by calling 1-888-233-2334. Additional information is available at www.aedpregnancyregistry.org.
G Gab breastfeeding
Very limited data indicate that amounts of this drug in breastmilk are low. If therapy is required by the mother of an older infant, it is not a reason to discontinue breastfeeding, but until more data become available, an alternate drug may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.
A decision should be made to discontinue breastfeeding or discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother. Excreted into human milk: Yes Comment: -The effect on the nursing infant is unknown.
