Hegel MPS Syrup is essential to many enzymatic reactions in the body, acting as a cofactor in protein synthesis and carbohydrate metabolism. 8.36 g of Hegel MPS Syrup chloride (hexahydrate) is equivalent to about 1 g of Hegel MPS Syrup. Each g of Hegel MPS Syrup chloride (hexahydrate) represents about 4.9 mmol of Hegel MPS Syrup and 9.8 mmol of chloride.

How should I take Hegel MPS Syrup?

This section provides information on the proper use of a number of products that contain Hegel MPS Syrup supplement. It may not be specific to Hegel MPS Syrup. Please read with care.

Hegel MPS Syrup supplements should be taken with meals. Taking Hegel MPS Syrup supplements on an empty stomach may cause diarrhea.

For individuals taking the extended-release form of this dietary supplement:

• Swallow the tablets whole. Do not chew or suck on the tablet.
• Some tablets may be broken or crushed and sprinkled on applesauce or other soft food. However, check with your health care professional first, since this should not be done for most tablets.

For individuals taking the powder form of this dietary supplement:

• Pour powder into a glass.
• Add water and stir.

Dosing

The dose medicines in this class will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label. The following information includes only the average doses of these medicines. If your dose is different, do not change it unless your doctor tells you to do so.

The amount of medicine that you take depends on the strength of the medicine. Also, the number of doses you take each day, the time allowed between doses, and the length of time you take the medicine depend on the medical problem for which you are using the medicine.

    • Adult and teenage males—270 to 400 milligrams (mg) per day.
    • Adult and teenage females—280 to 300 mg per day.
    • Pregnant females—320 mg per day.
    • Breast-feeding females—340 to 355 mg per day.
    • Children 7 to 10 years of age—170 mg per day.
    • Children 4 to 6 years of age—120 mg per day.
    • Children birth to 3 years of age—40 to 80 mg per day.
    • For Canada
    • Adult and teenage males—130 to 250 mg per day.
    • Adult and teenage females—135 to 210 mg per day.
    • Pregnant females—195 to 245 mg per day.
    • Breast-feeding females—245 to 265 mg per day.
    • Children 7 to 10 years of age—100 to 135 mg per day.
    • Children 4 to 6 years of age—65 mg per day.
    • Children birth to 3 years of age—20 to 50 mg per day.
  • To treat deficiency:
    • Adults, teenagers, and children—Treatment dose is determined by prescriber for each individual based on severity of deficiency.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.

However, if your health care professional has recommended that you take Hegel MPS Syrup, try to remember to take it as directed every day.

Storage

Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Keep from freezing.

Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed.

Hegel MPS Syrup pharmacology

Hegel MPS Syrup (Mg++) is an important cofactor for enzymatic reactions and plays an important role in neurochemical transmission and muscular excitability.

As a nutritional adjunct in hyperalimentation, the precise mechanism of action for Hegel MPS Syrup is uncertain. Early symptoms of hypomagnesemia (less than 1.5 mEq/liter) may develop as early as three to four days or within weeks.

Predominant deficiency effects are neurological, e.g., muscle irritability, clonic twitching and tremors. Hypocalcemia and hypokalemia often follow low serum levels of Hegel MPS Syrup. While there are large stores of Hegel MPS Syrup present intracellularly and in the bones of adults, these stores often are not mobilized sufficiently to maintain plasma levels.

Parenteral Hegel MPS Syrup therapy repairs the plasma deficit and causes deficiency symptoms and signs to cease.

Hegel MPS Syrup prevents or controls convulsions by blocking neuromuscular transmission and decreasing the amount of acetylcholine liberated at the end plate by the motor nerve impulse. Hegel MPS Syrup is said to have a depressant effect on the central nervous system (CNS), but it does not adversely affect the woman, fetus or neonate when used as directed in eclampsia or pre-eclampsia. Normal plasma Hegel MPS Syrup levels range from 1.5 to 2.5 mEq/liter.

As plasma Hegel MPS Syrup rises above 4 mEq/liter, the deep tendon reflexes are first decreased and then disappear as the plasma level approaches 10 mEq/liter. At this level respiratory paralysis may occur. Heart block also may occur at this or lower plasma levels of Hegel MPS Syrup. Serum Hegel MPS Syrup concentrations in excess of 12 mEq/L may be fatal.

Hegel MPS Syrup acts peripherally to produce vasodilation. With low doses only flushing and sweating occur, but larger doses cause lowering of blood pressure. The central and peripheral effects of Hegel MPS Syrup poisoning are antagonized to some extent by intravenous administration of calcium.

Pharmacokinetics

With intravenous administration the onset of anticonvulsant action is immediate and lasts about 30 minutes. Following intramuscular administration the onset of action occurs in about one hour and persists for three to four hours. Effective anticonvulsant serum levels range from 2.5 to 7.5 mEq/liter. Hegel MPS Syrup is excreted solely by the kidneys at a rate proportional to the plasma concentration and glomerular filtration.
