Magnesium Plus interactions

Interactions are the effects that happen when the drug is taken along with the food or when taken with other medications. Suppose if you are taking a drug Magnesium Plus, it may have interactions with specific foods and specific medications. It will not interact with all foods and medications. The interactions vary from drug to drug. You need to be aware of interactions of the medicine you take. Most medications may interact with alcohol, tobacco, so be cautious.

Concurrent use of cardiac glycosides with magnesium salts may inhibit

absorption and possibly decrease plasma concentration of cardiac


Diuretics may interfere with the kidneys ability to regulate magnesium


Concurrent use of magnesium supplements with other magnesium

containing antacids or laxatives may result in magnesium toxicity,

especially in patients with renal impairment.

Administration of oral magnesium salts with oral tetracyclines or

quinolone antibiotics may form non absorbable complexes resulting in

decreased absorption of tetracyclines and quinolones. Do not

administer oral magnesium salts within 1—3 hours of taking an oral

tetracycline or oral fluoroquinolone.

Magnesium-containing antacids and supplemental magnesium salts

should not be used in patients receiving vitamin D analogues. Vitamin D

analogues can increase serum magnesium concentrations in patients

with chronic renal failure.
