Nimicon topical is an antifungal medication. Nimicon topical prevents fungus from growing on your skin.
Nimicon topical (for the skin) is used to treat skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, tinea versicolor (a fungus that discolors the skin), and yeast infections of the skin.
Nimicon topical may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

How should I use Nimicon?
Use Nimicon suppositories as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
Nimicon suppositories comes with an additional patient leaflet. Read it carefully and reread it each time you get Nimicon suppositories refilled.
Nimicon suppositories is for vaginal use only. Do not use in the eyes or take by mouth.
Using the applicator provided, insert 1 suppository high into the vagina at bedtime for 7 days.
Nimicon suppositories comes with one applicator to be used for all 7 days of treatment. Do not throw away applicator after use. Separate the pieces of the applicator and wash with warm, soapy water immediately after use. Rinse thoroughly. Make sure the applicator is completely dry before the next use.
Wash your hands immediately after using Nimicon suppositories.
To clear up your infection completely, continue using Nimicon suppositories for the full course of treatment.
If you miss a dose of Nimicon suppositories, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.

Nimicon is an azole antifungal that works by preventing the growth of fungus.
How to use Nimicon topical
Use this medication on the skin only. Clean and thoroughly dry the area to be treated. Apply this medication to the affected skin, usually twice a day or as directed by your doctor. If you are using the spray form, shake the bottle well before applying. Dosage and length of treatment depends on the type of infection being treated. Do not apply this more often than prescribed. Your condition will not clear faster, but side effects may be increased.
Apply enough medication to cover the affected area and some of the surrounding skin. After applying this medication, wash your hands. Do not wrap, cover or bandage the area unless directed to do so by your doctor.
Do not apply this medication in the eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina.
Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. Remember to use it at the same times each day.
Continue to use this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after starting Nimicon. Stopping the medication too early may allow the fungus to continue to grow, which may result in a relapse of the infection.

Nimicon is an antifungal medication of the Imidazole class used to treat infections caused by a fungus or yeast. Nimicon topical (skin) preparations are also available for ringworm, jock itch, athlete's foot, and tinea versicolor or "sun fungus". Nimicon interacts with 14-± demethylase, a cytochrome P-450 enzyme that converts lanosterol to ergosterol, an essential component of the yeast membrane. In this way, tioconazole inhibits ergosterol synthesis, resulting in increased cellular permeability.

Basic Dosing Information
The recommended dosing schedule for Nimicon is the application of one 50 mg buccal tablet to the upper gum region (canine fossa) once daily for 14 consecutive days.
Administration Instructions
Nimicon should be applied in the morning, after brushing the teeth. The tablet should be applied with dry hands. The rounded side surface of the tablet should be placed against the upper gum just above the incisor tooth (canine fossa) and held in place with slight pressure over the upper lip for 30 seconds to ensure adhesion. The tablet is round on one side for comfort, but either side of the tablet can be applied to the gum.
Once applied, Nimicon stays in position and gradually dissolves. [ See Clinical Pharmacology (12.3)] Subsequent applications of Nimicon should be made to alternate sides of the mouth. Before applying the next tablet, the patient should clear away any remaining tablet material. In addition,
Nimicon should not be crushed, chewed or swallowed.
Food and drink can be taken normally when Nimicon is in place but chewing gum should be avoided.
If Nimicon does not adhere or falls off within the first 6 hours, the same tablet should be repositioned immediately. If the tablet still does not adhere, a new tablet should be placed.
If Nimicon is swallowed within the first 6 hours, the patient should drink a glass of water and a new tablet should be applied only once.
If Nimicon falls off or is swallowed after it was in place for 6 hours or more, a new tablet should not be applied until the next regularly scheduled dose..
Concomitant administration of Nimicon and warfarin has resulted in enhancement of anticoagulant effect. Cases of bleeding and bruising following the concomitant use ofwarfarin and topical, intravaginal, or oral Nimicon were reported. Closely monitor pro-thrombin time, International Normalized Ratio (INR), or other suitable anticoagulationtests if Nimicon is administered concomitantly with warfarin. Also monitor for evidenceof bleeding.
Drugs Metabolized Through CYP 2C9 and 3A4
No formal drug interaction studies have been performed with Nimicon. Nimicon is aknown inhibitor of CYP2C9 and CYP3A4. Although the systemic absorption of Nimicon following Nimicon administration is minimal and plasma concentrations of Nimicon are substantially lower than when given intravenously, the potential for interactionwith drugs metabolized through CYP2C9 and CYP3A4 such as oral hypoglycemics,phenytoin, or ergot alkaloids cannot be ruled out.
As well as its needed effects, Nimicon (the active ingredient contained in Nimicon) may cause unwanted side effects that require medical attention.

Minor Side Effects
Some Nimicon side effects may not need any medical attention. As your body gets used to the medicine these side effects may disappear. Your health care professional may be able to help you prevent or reduce these side effects, but do check with them if any of the following side effects continue, or if you are concerned about them:
Patients with any kind of liver disease; hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of Daktarin
Oral Gel.
The effects and/or side effects of many prescription medications, when taken with Daktarin
Oral Gel, can be increased. Hence, patients taking or about to take any other medications, must consult the doctor or pharmacist before starting Daktarin
Oral Gel therapy.
Use in infants: Daktarin
Oral Gel is contraindicated in infants <6 months because of the risk of choking.
