Propacetamol description
Propacetamol is a prodrug form of paracetamol which is formed from esterification of paracetamol, and the carboxylic acid diethylglycine. This has the advantage of making it more water-soluble. It is used in post-operative care and is delivered by I.V. Parenteral
Pain and fever
Adult: 1-2 g every 4 hr, up to 4 times daily. May be given via IM/IV inj. Max dose: 8 g daily.
Child: 20-30 mg/kg, given over 15 min, up to 4 times daily. Max dose: 120 mg/kg/day.
