Dosage of Redotil in details

Redotil should be given in conjunction with oral or parenteral rehydration therapy in patients where dehydration has occurred or is suspected.

Redotil: Adults ≥15 years: Treatment should be initiated with a single 100-mg cap given regardless of the time. Further treatment is given approximately 8-hrly until cessation of diarrhea.

The daily dose should not exceed 400 mg. If symptoms persist for >7 days, the patient should seek medical advice.

Elderly: An adjustment of dose is not necessary in elderly subjects.

Redotil Paediatric: Recommended Dose: 1.5 mg/kg body weight 3 times daily.

The total daily dose should not exceed approximately 6 mg/kg.

The usual dosage according to the weight and age of the infant or child is shown in the table as follows. Use the weight of the child to calculate the dose, if this is not possible, use the age.

In conjunction with oral rehydration salts solution, treatment should be initiated with the recommended number of sachets regardless of time. Further treatment should be given approximately 8-hrly until cessation of diarrhea.

If symptoms persist for >5days, the patient should seek medical advise.

Breastfeeding should be continued where applicable.

Administration: With Water: Open Redotil Paediatric sachet by cutting across the top as marked. Add Redotil Paediatric granules to a small amount of clean water. Stir the water and granules vigorously, and give to the child to drink before the granules settle at the bottom of the cup or glass. If any granules remain at the bottom of the cup or glass after administration, add a little more water, stir and administer, repeating until all the granules have been swallowed.

Directly Into the Child's Mouth: Redotil Paediatric can also be given by sprinkling the contents of the sachet on the tongue.

With Food: Redotil Paediatric can also be given mixed in small amount of food on a spoon.

Whatever the method of administration is, it is important to ensure that all of the required dosage is taken by the child.

Redotil interactions

To date, no interactions with other medicinal products have been described in humans. In humans, joint treatment with Redotil and loperamide, or nifuroxazide does not modify the kinetics of Redotil.
