What is Selenase 300 RP?

Selenase 300 RP is mineral that is found in soil and occurs naturally in certain foods (such as whole grains, Brazil nuts, sunflower seeds, and seafood). Selenase 300 RP is not produced in the body, but it is needed for proper thyroid and immune system function.

Selenase 300 RP is used to treat or prevent Selenase 300 RP deficiency.

Selenase 300 RP has been used in alternative medicine as an aid to treat Hashimoto's thyroiditis (an autoimmune disorder of the thyroid), and to treat high cholesterol.

Not all uses for Selenase 300 RP have been approved by the FDA. Selenase 300 RP should not be used in place of medication prescribed for you by your doctor.

Selenase 300 RP indications

An indication is a term used for the list of condition or symptom or illness for which the medicine is prescribed or used by the patient. For example, acetaminophen or paracetamol is used for fever by the patient, or the doctor prescribes it for a headache or body pains. Now fever, headache and body pains are the indications of paracetamol. A patient should be aware of the indications of medications used for common conditions because they can be taken over the counter in the pharmacy meaning without prescription by the Physician.

Uses of Selenase 300 RP in details

There are specific as well as general uses of a drug or medicine. A medicine can be used to prevent a disease, treat a disease over a period or cure a disease. It can also be used to treat the particular symptom of the disease. The drug use depends on the form the patient takes it. It may be more useful in injection form or sometimes in tablet form. The drug can be used for a single troubling symptom or a life-threatening condition. While some medications can be stopped after few days, some drugs need to be continued for prolonged period to get the benefit from it.

Selenase 300 RP is used as a dietary supplement mainly in the treatment of Selenase 300 RP deficiency affecting young women and children with Keshan disease. It is also used for treatment of osteoarthiritis associated with poor Selenase 300 RP levels in body called Kashin-Beck Disease. Selenase 300 RP supplements are also used in patients with HIV/ AIDS to maintain the adequate Selenase 300 RP levels.

Selenase 300 RP dosage

Selenase 300 RP Injection provides 40 mcg Selenase 300 RP/mL. For metabolically stable adults receiving TPN, the suggested additive dosage level is 20 to 40 mcg Selenase 300 RP/day. For pediatric patients, the suggested additive dosage level is 3 mcg/kg/day.

In adults, Selenase 300 RP deficiency states resulting from long-term TPN support, Selenase 300 RP as selenomethionine or selenious acid, administered intravenously at 100 mcg/day for a period of 24 and 31 days, respectively, has been reported to reverse deficiency symptoms without toxicity.

Aseptic addition of Selenase 300 RP Injection to the TPN solution under laminar flow hood is recommended. Selenase 300 RP is physically compatible with the electrolytes and other trace elements usually present in amino-acid/dextrose solution used for TPN. Frequent monitoring of plasma Selenase 300 RP levels is suggested as a guideline for subsequent administration. The normal whole blood range for Selenase 300 RP is approximately 10 to 37 mcg/100 mL.

Parenteral drug products should be inspected visually for particulate matter and discoloration, whenever solution and container permit.

No Selenase 300 RP-related adverse reactions have been reported in clinical studies or postmarketing reports in patients receiving intravenously administered PN solutions containing selenious acid within the recommended dosage range.
