Symptomatic treatment of acute inflammation of upper resp tract inflammation (rhinitis, sinusitis & tracheitis), especially assoc w/ allergy; & common cold (sneezing & cough).
Slocol dosage
Adult & childn ≥12 yrCommon cold 1 cap 12 hrly for 1-3 days. Allergic rhinitis 1 cap 12 hrly for 3-6 days. Sinusitis 1 cap 12 hrly for 6-12 days. Chronic rhinitis 1 cap 12 hrly for 30 days. Max: 8 cap in 24 hr or as approved by a physician. Childn <12 yr Consult physician.
Slocol interactions
Do not use w/in 2 wk of MAOI therapy; alcohol intake.
Slocol side effects
Skin rashes & other allergies; elevated BP w/ headache, dizziness, vomiting, diarrhoea, inability to sleep & palpitations, sedation (slight drowsiness to deep sleep).
Slocol contraindications
Concurrent use w/ Paracetamol (Slocol)-containing agents, MAOIs. Patients w/ heart disease, high BP, diabetes, thyroid disease, glaucoma, enlarged prostate gland or breathing problems. May cause drowsiness; excitability in childn.
