What happens if I overdose Topispray?

Contact 1-800-222-1222 (the American Association of Poison Control Centers), your local poison control center, or emergency room immediately. Topispray suspension may cause harm if more than is used for pain is swallowed. Symptoms may include blue skin or lips; trouble breathing.

Proper storage of Topispray suspension:

Store Topispray suspension at room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C). Topispray suspension may be stored in the refrigerator to improve taste. Do not freeze. Throw away any mixed medicine that has not been used after 2 weeks. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep Topispray suspension out of the reach of children and away from pets.

Effects of Topispray overdosage may include yawning, restlessness, excitement, nausea and vomiting. Treatment is symptomatic. Please call your local Poison Control Center or your doctor if you suspect an overdosage of this product.

What should I avoid while taking Topispray?

Avoid eating within 1 hour after using Topispray topical on your gums or inside your mouth.

Topispray topical is for use only on the surface of your body, or just inside the mouth, vagina, or rectum. Avoid getting this medication in your eyes. Avoid swallowing the gel, liquid, or ointment while applying it to your gums or the inside of your mouth. The throat spray or oral lozenge may be swallowed gradually during use.

Topispray warnings

Do NOT use Topispray Aerosol Spray if:

you are allergic to any ingredient in Topispray Aerosol Spray or to other local anesthetics (eg, lidocaine).

Do not use Topispray Aerosol Spray on severe burns or deep puncture wounds.

If your symptoms do not improve within 7 days or if they become worse, check with your doctor.

Do not exceed the recommended dose or use Topispray Aerosol Spray for longer than 7 days without checking with your doctor.

Topispray Aerosol Spray is extremely flammable. Do not store or use near an open flame or while smoking.

The contents of this container are under pressure. Do not burn or puncture the container, even if it appears to be empty.

Do not inhale the contents of this container. Inhaling the contents of this container may be harmful or fatal.

Use of Topispray Aerosol Spray is not recommended in CHILDREN younger than 2 years of age without first checking with your doctor. Safety and effectiveness have not been established.

PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant while taking Topispray Aerosol Spray, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Topispray Aerosol Spray during pregnancy. It is unknown if Topispray Aerosol Spray is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using Topispray Aerosol Spray, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking Topispray?

This medicine may interact with other drugs or health problems.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist about all of your drugs (prescription or OTC, natural products, vitamins) and health problems. You must check to make sure that it is safe for you to take Topispray (Topispray oral spray) with all of your drugs and health problems. Do not start, stop, or change the dose of any drug without checking with your doctor.

Before using Topispray, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other "caine" anesthetics (such as procaine) or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

If you have any of the following health problems, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this product: certain blood disorders (G6PD deficiency, pyruvate kinase deficiency, hemoglobin-M disease, NADH-methemoglobin reductase deficiency), breathing problems (such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, smoking history), heart disease.

Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products).

During pregnancy, this product should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

It is unknown if this product passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

What happens if I miss a dose of Topispray?

Since Topispray topical is used when needed, you may not be on a dosing schedule. If you are on a schedule, use the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
