What is the most important information I should know about Zaxime 200mg?
Zaxime 200mg suspension may cause dizziness. This effect may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Zaxime 200mg suspension with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
Do not change dose forms (eg, tablets, capsules, chewable tablets) of Zaxime 200mg suspension without talking with your doctor.
Zaxime 200mg suspension only works against bacteria; it does not treat viral infections (eg, the common cold).
Be sure to use Zaxime 200mg suspension for the full course of treatment. If you do not, the medicine may not clear up your infection completely. The bacteria could also become less sensitive to this or other medicines. This could make the infection harder to treat in the future.
Long-term or repeated use of Zaxime 200mg suspension may cause a second infection. Tell your doctor if signs of a second infection occur. Your medicine may need to be changed to treat this.
Mild diarrhea is common with antibiotic use. However, a more serious form of diarrhea (pseudomembranous colitis) may rarely occur. This may develop while you use the antibiotic or within several months after you stop using it. Contact your doctor right away if stomach pain or cramps, severe diarrhea, or bloody stools occur. Do not treat diarrhea without first checking with your doctor.
Zaxime 200mg suspension may reduce the ability of your blood to clot. Avoid activities that may cause bruising or injury. Tell your doctor if you have unusual bruising or bleeding. Tell your doctor if you have dark, tarry, or bloody stools.
Do not receive a BCG vaccine or a live oral typhoid vaccine while you are taking Zaxime 200mg suspension. It may not work as well. Talk with your doctor if you are scheduled to receive a BCG vaccine or a typhoid vaccine.
Diabetes patients - Zaxime 200mg suspension may cause the results of some tests for urine glucose or urine ketones to be wrong. Ask your doctor before you change your diet or the dose of your diabetes medicine.
Zaxime 200mg suspension may interfere with certain lab tests. Be sure your doctor and lab personnel know you are using Zaxime 200mg suspension.
Zaxime 200mg suspension should be used with extreme caution in CHILDREN younger than 6 months old; safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.
PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Zaxime 200mg suspension while you are pregnant. It is not known if Zaxime 200mg suspension is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use Zaxime 200mg suspension, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.
Zaxime 200mg contraindications
Contraindication can be described as a special circumstance or a disease or a condition wherein you are not supposed to use the drug or undergo particular treatment as it can harm the patient; at times, it can be dangerous and life threatening as well. When a procedure should not be combined with other procedure or when a medicine cannot be taken with another medicine, it is called Relative contraindication. Contraindications should be taken seriously as they are based on the relative clinical experience of health care providers or from proven research findings.

Do not take this medication if you are allergic to Zaxime 200mg, or to similar antibiotics, such as Ceftin, Cefzil, Keflex, Omnicef, and others.
Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs (especially penicillin).
Take this medication for the entire length of time prescribed by your doctor. Your symptoms may get better before the infection is completely treated. Zaxime 200mg will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu.
Antibiotic medicines can cause diarrhea, which may be a sign of a new infection. If you have diarrhea that is watery or has blood in it, call your doctor. Do not use any medicine to stop the diarrhea unless your doctor has told you to.
