Cardimed indications
Management of HTN & angina pectoris.
Cardimed dosage
As a substitute for oral nicardipine therapy 0.5 mg/hr IV infusion rate (for oral 20 mg every 8 hr), 1.2 mg/hr IV infusion rate (for oral 30 mg every 8 hr), 2.2 mg/hr IV infusion rate (for oral 40 mg every 8 hr). Initiation of therapy in drug-free patient 0.1 mg/mL administered by slow continuous infusion. Gradual reduction in BP Initially 5 mg/hr, may be increased by 2.5 mg/hr every 15 min up to a max of 15 mg/hr. More rapid BP reduction Initially 5 mg/hr, may be increased by 2.5 mg/hr every 5 min up to a max of 15 mg/hr.
Cardimed interactions
Increased plasma conc w/ cimetidine. Elevated plasma levels of cyclosporine.
Cardimed side effects
Hypotension, headache & tachycardia.
Cardimed contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Advanced aortic stenosis.
