What is Tricon?
Treating and preventing low levels of iron in the blood caused by certain types of anemia. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Tricon is a combination of iron, vitamins, folic acid, and a stomach absorption substance. It also contains senna, which is a laxative. Tricon works by replacing iron, certain vitamins, and folic acid in your body. The stomach absorption substance helps the body to absorb Tricon. The senna is used to treat constipation that may be caused by the iron in Tricon.
Tricon indications
Tricon™ is a multifactor preparation effective in the treatment of anemias that respond to oral hematinics, including pernicious anemia and other megaloblastic anemias and also irondeficiency anemia. Therapeutic quantities of hematopoietic factors that are known to be important are present in the recommended daily dose.
How should I use Tricon?
Use Tricon drops as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Take Tricon drops by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
- Tricon drops may be taken by mouth directly or mixed with fruit juice, cereal, or other food.
- Use the dropper that comes with Tricon drops to measure your dose. Ask your pharmacist for help if you are unsure of how to measure your dose.
- Shake well before each use.
- Avoid taking Tricon drops with dairy products; they may interfere with the absorption of the iron in Tricon drops.
- Do not take an antacid within several hours before or after you take Tricon drops.
- Many medicines (eg, used for infection, blood pressure, low blood platelets, osteoporosis) should not be taken at the same time as Tricon drops; their effectiveness may be decreased. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if your dose of Tricon drops should be separated from your dose of any of your other medicines.

What other drugs will affect Tricon?
When this drug applied simultaneously with:
- inhibitors of CYP3A4 (erythromycin, cimetidine) decreased clearance of sildenafil, increasing the concentration of Tricon Intra Labs India in plasma.
- indinavir, saquinavir, ritonavir increases the plasma Cmax and AUC of sildenafil, which is due to inhibition of CYP3A4 isoenzyme under the influence of indinavir, saquinavir, ritonavir.
One might expect that stronger inhibitors of isoenzyme CYP3A4, such as ketoconazole or itraconazole would increase the concentration of this medication in the blood plasma.
While the use with nitrates the hypotensive effect of nitrates increases.
There was described a case of rhabdomyolysis symptoms after a single oral dose of sildenafil in patients receiving simvastatin.
