Parenteral treatment of Fe deficiency where there is a clinical need for a rapid Fe supply; in patients who cannot tolerate oral Fe therapy or are noncompliant & in active inflammatory bowel disease where oral Fe preparations are ineffective.

Anaphylactoid reactions. Transient taste perversions (metallic taste). Hypotension, fever & shivering, inj site reactions & nausea.
Ferric Oxide contraindications
Anaemia not caused by Fe deficiency. All cases of Fe overload or disturbances in utilization of Fe. First trimenon of pregnancy.
