Causes nitrogen recycling in the body and reduces nitrogen load on the kidneys, Disease, relieves uraemic symptoms, improves metabolic complications associated with CKD and also maintains nutritional status. Indications &
Dosage: For all CKD and diabetic nephropathy patients with proteinuria, creatininie clearance less than 50ml/min
Ketosteril dosage
Chronic renal insufficiency 4-8 caplet 3 times daily. Compensated retention 4-6 caplet 3 times daily w/ a low-protein, high-caloric nutrition. Decompensated retention 4-8 caplet 3 times daily w/ a low-protein, high-caloric nutrition.
Ketosteril interactions
Administration of barbiturates, narcotics, hypnotics or systemic anesthetics should be adjusted with caution in patients also receiving magnesium-containing solutions because of an additive central depressive effect.
Ketosteril side effects
Local reactions of the infusion site consisting of a warm sensation, erythema, phlebitis and thrombosis have been reported in the literature with peripheral amino acid infusions. Generalized flushing, fever and nausea have been reported in the literature during the peripheral administration of amino acids.
Ketosteril contraindications
Renal failure.
Severe liver disease and hepatic coma.
Metabolic disorders associated with impaired nitrogen utilization.
Hypersensitivity to one or more amino acids.
