Pepsogel indications
As antacid for symptomatic relief of hyperacidity associated with the diagnosis of peptic ulcer, gastritis, peptic esophagitis, gastric hyperacidity, heartburn or hiatal hernia.
As an antiflatulent to alleviate the symptoms of gas, including postoperative gas pain.
Pepsogel dosage
Adult: 5-10 ml, 1/2-1 hr after meals. Higher doses are required for the treatment of peptic ulcer.
Pepsogel interactions
Antacids markedly decrease the absorption of antibiotics, eg penicillin G and tetracycline from the gut. They may also affect absorption of barbiturates, digitalis, iron, nalidixic acid, nitrofurantoin, phenylbutazone and sulfonamides.
Affects the absorption of chlorpromazine, levodopa, isoniazid, digoxin, H2-receptor antagonists, indomethacin and dicoumarols.
Pepsogel side effects
One case of glossitis of the hypersensitivity type has been reported. One observed case of skin eruption was relieved by discontinuation of medication.
If the dose of this medicine exceeds some patients may experience dizziness, faintness or drowsiness.
Diarrhea, constipation; hypersensitivity reactions (skin eruptions, angioedema, collapse).
Pepsogel contraindications
Neogastro and Neogastro Plus contain aspartame. Therefore, caution is advised if you have a condition called phenylketonuria. You should be careful to take Neogastro or Neogastro Plus if you:
- are allergic to any of the ingredients
- are severely debilitated
- have kidney problems
- suffer from severe abdominal pain
- have bowel obstruction
- have hypophosphataemia
