Oral
Peptic ulcer
Adult: 50 mg bid-tid for 4-6 wk.
Pirodeine description
An antimuscarinic agent that inhibits gastric secretion at lower doses than are required to affect gastrointestinal motility, salivary, central nervous system, cardiovascular, ocular, and urinary function. It promotes the healing of duodenal ulcers and due to its cytoprotective action is beneficial in the prevention of duodenal ulcer recurrence. It also potentiates the effect of other antiulcer agents such as cimetidine and ranitidine. It is generally well tolerated by patients. [PubChem]

Drug Interactions
Pirodeine Gastrozepin may interact with the following drugs, which may affect the effect of Pirodeine Gastrozepin or whose effects may be affected - Antacid - Diarrhea medicine containing kaolin or attapulgit - Ketoconazol - Central nervous system (CNS) depressant - Other anticholinergic - Tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., Elavil, Asendin, Anafranil, Pertofrane, Sinequan, Tofranil, Aventyl, Surmontil - Potassium chloride (e.g., Kay Ciel)
Pirodeine side effects
There are no known adverse effects of bismuth on sexual function.
Adverse reactions can occur with any drug, even over-the-counter medications. Some of these are mild such as a stomach upset, which may be avoided by taking the medication with food. Minor reactions may go away on their own but if they persist, contact the physician. For major reactions, the patient should contact the physician immediately.
For bismuth, the following are the observed side effects:
Minor:
temporary gray-black darkening of stool
Major:
stool impaction or blockage in infants or elderly patients.
Pirodeine contraindications
People who have known allergies or asthma may be at an increased risk for a reaction from any new medication. The physician should always know a patient’s allergy history. Signs of an allergic reaction are skin rash, hives and itching. Of course, a person should not take bismuth if there has been a previous reaction to this drug, aspirin or any other salicylates.
