Thiodantol indications

Temporarily relieving pain and itching associated with insect bites, minor burns, sunburn, minor skin irritations, minor cuts, scrapes, and rashes due to poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac.

Calamine/Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine and protectant combination. It works by blocking the action of histamine, which reduces the symptoms of an allergic reaction.

Thiodantol description

Thiodantol is an antihistamine and anticholinergic used as an antipruritic.

Thiodantol dosage

Oral

Allergic conditions

Adult: As HCl: 12-24 mg/day in divided doses. Max dose: 36 mg/day.

Child: As HCl: 4-6 mg/day in divided doses.

Topical/Cutaneous

Pruritic skin disorders

Adult: As HCl: Apply a thin layer on the affected area once daily or as needed.

Thiodantol interactions

Increased impairment of alertness with alcohol.

Thiodantol side effects

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:

Skin irritation.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue).
